Modelling and Learning for Dynamical Systems, TSRT92

Course Information HT1, 2020

Objective:

The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to the methods and principles used in constructing mathematical models in dynamical systems and in practical applications.

The course will cover model design based on basic physical principles as well as system identification, i.e., modeling based on measured data from sensors. It will also show how to use simulations to investigate the properties of a model.

Course content:

  • General introduction to models and model building: Model types, dimension and scaling, model simplification.
  • System identification: Estimating transient response, spectral estimation, identification of parametric models, identification of nonlinear models, validation.
  • Physical Modeling: Physical principles, object-oriented modeling.
  • Simulations: Choice of methods, stability, accuracy.

Lecturer and examinator:

Office hours: Thursdays, 10:30-11:30, until October 29. Any questions regarding the course are answered in person at the office during office hours and not via E-mail. Room A BV 483 (in the A corridor on the ground floor between entrance 27 and 29).

Teaching assistants:

Office hours: Tuesday, 10:15-11:30, until October 27 (in the A corridor, ground floor, between entrance 25 and 27). Answering questions regarding labs, exercises or other course related items. The teaching sessions lead by Fredrik will be given in Swedish. Online office hours: Friday, 13.15- 14-00, until October 30 at Zoom-link , PW: 652832. The teaching sessions lead by Farnaz will be given in English.
