Signal processing in integrated control and information systems

Various signal processing algorithms form the core of the information processing in the control and supervisory system. This involves the construction of models or sub-models for specific use, for example based on neural networks or fuzzy modeling for supporting specific decisions that might arise during the application. It also involves the question of extracting exact, timely and robust information from a large data base when so demanded by the application. Another important aspect of signal processing is to integrate information and sensor sources of different kinds into an application oriented output, used for high level control or decision making. Providing the basis for detection of faults and complex events is also an important aspects the signal processing area.

The goal for the ISIS activities in this area is to provide useful methods, for practical applications to extract and enhance information and deliver it in an application oriented and useful way. Applications that will be dealt with within ISIS contain navigation systems and various aspects of signal processing in automobiles.
