MATRIS (2004-2007)

MATRIS (Markerless real-time Tracking for Augmented Reality Image) is a sixth framework programme funded by the European Union. The aim of this project is to estimate the position and orientation of a video camera. This information will then be used in an Augmented Reality (AR) setting, where computer generated objects are inserted in real-time to the video stream captured by the camera. The systems make use of inertial sensors (3 accelerometers and 3 gyroscopes) and computer vision via feature extraction. The Division of Automatic Control is responsible for the sensor fusion part of the project.
